The Telephone Pole Art of South Mashpee

If you look carefully as you drive Red Brook and Great Neck South roads in South Mashpee you’ll notice that a smattering of telephone poles have been moonlighting as art galleries. The artworks are installed about 5 to 10 feet off the ground on the sides of the poles facing traffic. Someone, somewhere knows something about the origins of the telephone pole art, but it isn’t me. I’m just a spectator and a fan.

I first noticed these pieces popping up about 5 years ago and recently it seems that some of the older pieces are starting to disappear. Given their transient nature I wanted to attempt to preserve some lasting memory of the art. Below are the images of the telephone pole installations that I’ve collected to date. They’re in no particular order, and they are not an exhaustive collection of all of the telephone poles. I will add more pieces as time allows.

Not long after I originally posted this blog, someone alerted me to the Instagram account @pint, who appears to be the creator of these. Whoever it is, well done - and thank you.
